The Kolkata Knight will seek to return to winning ways when they take on the Delhi Daredevils in Match 13 of VIVO IPL 2013.
KKR began their season with a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore, but have since lost two games on the bounce. It is not yet time for the alarm bells to ring, but KKR will be aware they could have converted those two defeats to wins with only a slightly better performance. Their match against the Chennai Super Kings was decided in the final over; CSK got across the line with one ball to spare. Against Sunrisers Hyderabad, they fought hard right to the end despite scoring a modest 138-8; SRH’s run-chase got tricky, but they eventually got across the line with one over to spare.
There’s no denying KKR have issues with their combination; having the smallest squad in the competition isn’t helping them too. The batting position of Sunil Narine has a big impact on the rest of the line-up; the Trinidadian has had success at the top, and it is best KKR ask him to open the innings. The young kid Shubman Gill is wasted in the lower middle order; KKR could instead include the in-form IshankJaggi, for his experience and his proven ability to strike the ball.
After defeats in their first two matches, the Delhi Daredevils opened their account when they chased down 194 against the Mumbai Indians. The inclusion of Jason Roy, who scored a match-winning 91 against MI, has added plenty of muscle to the DD batting line-up.Can DD build on the confidence they have from the win on Saturday and make it two wins in two matches?
Between KKR’s bowling unit and DD’s batting line-up, whoever has a better day will sway the match significantly in favour of their team.

Sunil Narineis a bit of a wasted resource down the order. When he opens the batting, he doesn’t generally hang around without getting appropriate returns. If he has spends time at the crease, chances are he would have scored a decent number of runs, in quick time too. KKR have used that ploy on several occasions in the past, but did not use it in the previous match. Narine as opener is a risk KKR should pursue. The other impact batsman in the KKR line-up is Chris Lynn, who looked good when scoring 49 in the previous match.
Jason Roy made a fine impression on his debut for the Delhi Daredevils; he was unbeaten in his previous inning, and DD will want him to carry on from where his innings ended it in the previous match. With the Inclusion of Roy, DD have three batsmen with strike-rates of over 140 in their batting line-up; Roy strikes at 144, Rishabh Pant at 162 and Glenn Maxwell at 157.
KKR’s Sunil Narine will be the one bowler the Delhi Daredevils batsmen will look at playing out. Narine may not have collected too many wickets in recent times, but he has been extremely difficult to score off. His bowling figures so far in the competition read 1-30, 1-17 and 2-17.

The two captains in this match have both represented the Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils. The current KKR captain Dinesh Karthik donned the DD jersey in 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2014. The current DD captain Gautam Gambhir captained KKR between 2011 & 2017 and led them to two IPL titles.
Sunil Narine needs one more wicket to join the 100 IPL wickets club; he will be the first overseas spinner to reach the milestone.
Kolkata Knight Riders will play their third match in five days when on April 18 they take on the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. The Delhi Daredevils meanwhile will play the final match of their five away matches stretch when they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Garden City on April 21.
