The Gujarat Titans secured an unforgettable, nail-biting one-run victory over the Delhi Capitals in Match 14 of the TATA IPL 2026. In an absolute rollercoaster at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Titans successfully defended their imposing total of 210, holding their nerve in a dramatic final over. Despite a spectacular 92 from KL Rahul and terrifying late fireworks from David Miller, the Capitals agonisingly fell short on the final delivery of the match, courtesy of a clutch direct-hit run-out by Jos Buttler, to lose by a solitary run.

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to utilise the chasing advantage at his home ground. Mukesh Kumar provided an early breakthrough by chopping on Sai Sudharsan for 12, but that dismissal only brought Jos Buttler to the crease.
Buttler unleashed a brutal assault inside the Powerplay, scoring a sensational 52 off just 27 deliveries. The Englishman notably took on Mukesh Kumar, displaying 360-degree brilliance. Following Buttler's dismissal to Kuldeep Yadav (1 for 42), captain Shubman Gill anchored the innings beautifully. Gill led from the front with a highly classy 70 off 45 balls, dictating the tempo and rotating the strike seamlessly through the middle overs.

The biggest surprise package, however, was Washington Sundar. Promoted up the batting order, the all-rounder cracked a brilliant 32-ball 55 to keep the momentum surging. Together, Gill and Sundar propelled the Titans to a daunting 210 for 4. For the Capitals, Lungi Ngidi proved exceptional, utilising his pace-off variations to deliver a highly economical spell of 1 for 24 in a very high-scoring innings.
Facing a massive target of 211, the Capitals commenced their chase with ferocious intent. Pathum Nissanka set the tone early. Nissanka (41 off 24) and KL Rahul combined to dismantle the Titans' pace attack, notably taking Ashok Sharma apart by plundering 23 runs in the sixth over.

However, the introduction of Rashid Khan completely flipped the script. The Afghan maestro delivered an absolute masterclass to choke the run flow. Rashid dismissed Nitish Rana (5), trapped Impact Player and in-form Sameer Rizvi for a golden duck, and later removed Axar Patel (2). He finished with spellbinding figures of 3 for 17 in his four overs, shifting the momentum entirely back to Gujarat.
Despite the middle-order collapse, KL Rahul waged a heroic lone battle. The veteran opener constructed a magnificent 92 off 52 deliveries (11 fours, 4 sixes), keeping the hosts mathematically alive in the contest before falling to Mohd. Siraj.
When the equation looked highly improbable, David Miller (41* off 20) walked in and launched a terrifying counter-attack against his former franchise. The match reached fever pitch in the penultimate 19th over. Miller and Vipraj Nigam (12 off 7) took Siraj to the cleaners, looting a massive 23 runs off the over to suddenly bring the equation down to a highly manageable 14 runs needed from the final six deliveries.
Prasidh Krishna was tasked with defending the final 14 runs. Miller fiercely kept the chase alive, bringing the equation down to a heart-stopping 2 runs required off the final 2 deliveries. On the penultimate ball, Miller surprisingly refused a single, backing himself to hit the winning runs. The gamble backfired spectacularly on the final delivery. Prasidh executed a brilliant slower ball that completely deceived the swinging Miller. As the batters desperately scrambled for a bye to tie the game, Jos Buttler collected the ball cleanly and fired a flawless direct hit, catching the batter short and sealing a breathless 1-run victory for the Gujarat Titans.
