TATA IPL 2026, Match 60: KKR vs GT – Match Report
16 May, 2026
In an absolute run-fest marking the 100th TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) kept their playoff hopes flickering with a commanding 29-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 60 of TATA IPL 2026. A ruthless batting exhibition powered by Finn Allen’s breathtaking 35-ball 93 and unbeaten half-centuries from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green propelled KKR to a colossal 247/2. Despite valiant responses from Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and a resilient Sai Sudharsan, the Titans were restricted to 218/4 under the pressure of a towering chase.
Having been put in to bat first by GT, KKR made their intent clear immediately. While Mohd. Siraj provided an early breakthrough by rattling Ajinkya Rahane’s stumps for 14 - marking his 200th T20 wicket - it did little to stem the flow of runs as Finn Allen went into attack mode.

Allen went berserk during the field restrictions, blasting a fiery half-century in just 21 deliveries. He punished any error in length and was relentless in his approach. Benefiting from a reprieve on 33 when Siraj dropped a chance, the New Zealander continued his onslaught to crack a sensational 93 off just 35 deliveries. His whirlwind knock, decorated with 4 boundaries and a staggering 10 towering sixes, thrilled the Kolkata crowd before he eventually fell to Sai Kishore in the 12th over.
Following Allen’s departure at 139/2, the young Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green paired up to maximize the exceptional platform. Capitalizing on a highly uncharacteristic display of sloppy fielding and dropped catches from GT, the duo put on an unbroken 108-run partnership off just 52 deliveries.

The in-form Raghuvanshi played a consistent hand while still finding the boundaries regularly, finishing on an unbeaten 82* off 44 balls - his fifth fifty-plus score of the season. At the other end, Green provided the muscular finish, flexing his arms to bludgeon a 28-ball 52*. The relentless saw KKR plunder 25 runs from Siraj’s 19th over, finishing at a massive 247/2.
Chasing a daunting 248, GT’s pursuit got off to an eventful start. Opener Sai Sudharsan looked in elegant touch early on, but his innings was abruptly paused when he copped a nasty blow to his left elbow off Kartik Tyagi. Visibly in pain, the southpaw was forced to retire hurt on 15, bringing Nishant Sindhu to the middle.

Sindhu’s stay was short-lived, as the evergreen Sunil Narine - played a landmark 200th IPL match - immediately clamped down on the scoring rate, removing him cheaply to leave GT at 49/1 in the fifth over.
Skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler refused to let the chase die without a fight. The duo consolidated brilliantly, stitching together an explosive 128-run partnership to keep GT within striking distance. Gill spearheaded the resistance with a masterful 85 off 49 balls, launching seven massive sixes, while Buttler complemented him with a fluid 57 off 35 deliveries.
Narine returned to dismiss Gill at a crucial juncture in the 17th over, and finished with brilliant figures of 2/29.

A bruised but determined Sai Sudharsan returned to the crease to join Buttler. Sudharsan played a fighting knock to reach his own half-century (53* off 28).
With 45 required from the final two overs, Saurabh Dubey delivered a phenomenal penultimate over under immense pressure. Dubey conceded just four runs and claimed the monumental wicket of Jos Buttler, caught at long-on to effectively seal the game, while Cameron Green closed out the final over with composure.
While GT remained in second place on the points table, KKR kept their hopes of qualification alive with this victory.
