In a contest characterised by constantly shifting momentum at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Capitals successfully chased down a tricky target of 176 with just one delivery remaining. When Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel opted to bowl first, the Chinnaswamy surface played surprisingly tacky early on. The ball held up in the pitch just a fraction, making fluent strokeplay difficult for the top order. However, Phil Salt bypassed the tricky conditions with sheer aggressive intent. The English opener blasted his way to a top score of 63 off just 38 deliveries, heavily laced with four boundaries and three towering sixes. Virat Kohli showed early intent with a quick 19 off 13, but could not convert his start into a substantial score.

Just as the Royal Challengers looked poised to set a massive total, the Delhi spin twins applied a masterful squeeze. Captain Axar Patel led the strangulation, finishing his three overs with sensational figures of 2 for 18, operating at a frugal economy rate of 6.00. Kuldeep Yadav backed him up beautifully from the other end, claiming 2 for 32 in his four overs. Together, they conceded just 50 runs across seven combined overs, effectively ripping the momentum away from the Bengaluru middle order.

Despite Tim David's late cameo of 26 from 17 balls (striking at 152.94), the Capitals' death bowling proved exceptionally disciplined. T. Natarajan delivered a quiet but crucial spell, giving away just 16 runs in his two overs, while Lungi Ngidi (2 for 39) executed his variations perfectly at the back end. The combined effort dried up the boundaries in the final two overs, restricting the hosts to 175 for 8.

Defending 175, the Royal Challengers desperately needed to strike early, and veteran seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar delivered a Powerplay masterclass. Utilising genuine swing and impeccable lines, he completely dismantled the Capitals' top order. Kumar removed Pathum Nissanka, Karun Nair, and Sameer Rizvi in quick succession, concluding an incredible spell with figures of 3 for 26 and leaving the visitors reeling.

Walking into a high-pressure collapse, Birthday boy KL Rahul played one of the most vital knocks of the game. He absorbed the pressure and masterfully transferred it back to the bowlers, striking a fluent 57 off just 34 balls. Operating at a brisk strike rate of 167.65 and hitting six boundaries alongside two sixes, Rahul kept the required run rate well within reach before falling to Krunal Pandya (1 for 24).

Following Rahul's exit, the chase required a calm head, and 25-year-old Tristan Stubbs provided exactly that. Refusing to panic under the mounting run rate, Stubbs anchored the innings with a highly responsible, unbeaten 60 off 47 balls. Axar Patel chipped in with a handy 26 off 19, but as the innings stretched into the deep death overs, the tension reached a boiling point.

The equation came down to the final over: Delhi needed 15 runs, and Bengaluru handed the ball to Romario Shepherd.

Showing ice-cold composure, David Miller immediately destroyed the hosts' hopes. The destructive left-hander mercilessly dispatched Shepherd for a staggering sequence of 6, 6, and 4, taking 17 runs off just five deliveries. Miller finished unbeaten on an explosive 22 off just 10 balls (a strike rate of 220.00), sealing the win in spectacular fashion.
