The Rajasthan Royals delivered a masterclass in power-hitting to secure a comprehensive 27-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in Match 13 of the TATA IPL 2026. In a high-octane clash severely truncated by rain at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara, the Royals maximized their 11-over allotment, posting a colossal 150/3 before restricting Mumbai to 123/9.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to capitalize on any moisture on the pitch following the delayed start. However, the Royals' top order quickly turned the damp evening into a nightmare for the visiting bowlers.

Yashasvi Jaiswal set the stadium alight immediately. The left-hander launched a relentless assault on Deepak Chahar in the very first over, hammering him for 22 runs to establish an unyielding momentum.

However, the defining story of the innings belonged to 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Facing Jasprit Bumrah—arguably the finest all-format bowler in the world—the teenager showed remarkable ball-striking and intent. Sooryavanshi stunned the veteran pacer in their first-ever meeting, fighting fire with fire and smashing the first ball he faced for a six. He muscled his way to a blistering 39 off just 14 deliveries striking at an eye-watering 278.57

Following Sooryavanshi's departure, Jaiswal anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 77 off 32 balls. Striking 10 fours and 4 sixes, he maintained a strike rate of 240.63, ensuring the Royals' run rate never dipped. A quick-fire 20 off 10 balls from Riyan Parag further propelled the total to a daunting 150. Jaiswal was unstoppable in his stay at the crease. He targeted every corner og the field displaying his immanse talent leaving the MI bowlers short of any swift response.

Chasing 151 in 66 deliveries demanded a boundary-laden start, but the Royals' bowling unit executed their plans with clinical precision. Jofra Archer, operating against his former franchise, bowled a tight opening spell 1/17 in 2 overs, denying the Mumbai openers any room to free their arms.

The pressure mounted instantly, forcing Mumbai into high-risk shots that led to a procession of wickets. Rohit Sharma (5 off 6) and Ryan Rickelton (8 off 4) departed early, leaving the middle order with an insurmountable task.

Sherfane Rutherford injected brief life into the chase, bludgeoning 25 off just 8 balls at a monstrous strike rate of 312.5, while Naman Dhir contributed a valiant 25 off 13. Despite their late fireworks, the required rate proved too steep.

The Royals' bowlers shared the spoils evenly, utilizing the pitch conditions to their advantage. Sandeep Sharma was exceptional, utilizing his variations to claim 2/26 in his 3 overs. Nandre Burger (2/21) and Ravi Bishnoi (2/25) applied the finishing touches, dismantling the Mumbai lower order to close out the game.
