TATA IPL 2026, Match 67: SRH v RCB – Match Report

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a batting masterclass to register a commanding 55-run victory over the table-topping Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 67 of the TATA IPL 2026. In front of an electrifying home crowd at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, the hosts transformed a batting-friendly surface into a launching pad, piling up a mammoth 255 for 4. With that it confirmed a top-two finish for both the Gujarat Titans and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru heading into the playoffs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that his top order immediately vindicated. Travis Head provided a fiery start with a rapid 26 off 16 deliveries, but it was young Abhishek Sharma who set the stadium ablaze. Displaying pure fireworks, Sharma exploded for a blistering 56 off just 22 balls, punishing the pacers with four boundaries and five massive sixes to lay an explosive foundation inside the Powerplay.

Following Sharma's departure, Ishan Kishan took center stage and anchored the innings with a sensational performance. Kishan dazzled his way to a supreme 79 off 46 deliveries, striking eight fours and three sixes. He found the perfect destructive ally in Heinrich Klaasen, who continued his role as the reliable enforcer. The South African powerhouse bludgeoned a superb 51 off 24 balls, hitting five towering sixes and keeping the run rate soaring through the middle overs.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers endured a nightmare as the hosts showed zero respite. Rasikh Salam managed to pick up the crucial wickets of Head and Kishan, returning 2 for 52, while Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya chipped in with a wicket each. However, the SRH batters relentlessly targeted the seasoned pace duo of Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the death overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy provided a fiery finishing touch with a sensational, unbeaten 29 off merely 12 balls, propelling Sunrisers Hyderabad to a colossal 255 for 4.

Chasing an astronomical target of 256, Royal Challengers Bengaluru required an unprecedented start. Venkatesh Iyer embraced the challenge immediately, teeing off in the Powerplay with an impactful 44 off just 19 deliveries. However, once Iyer fell to Eshan Malinga, the scoring rate encountered a significant dip.

Talisman Virat Kohli managed a brief 15 off 11 balls before being dismissed, shifting the immense scoreboard pressure onto the middle order. Captain Rajat Patidar showcased tremendous fighting spirit, compiling a spirited 56 from 39 deliveries and fell to the surprise bowling of Travis Head. The SRH bowlers utilized their slower deliveries masterfully to prevent the Bengaluru batters from cutting loose.

Eshan Malinga emerged as the standout bowler for the hosts, returning exceptional figures of 2 for 33 in his four overs on a pitch where runs flowed freely. Sakib Hussain (1 for 31) maintained immense discipline, choking the run-flow during the critical middle phases. Krunal Pandya battled hard down the order to register an unbeaten 41 off 31 balls, and Tim David contributed a quickfire 15 off 7, but the required run rate had already spiraled beyond reach. RCB ultimately finished their 20 overs at 200 for 4, suffering a 55-run defeat. Ishan Kishan was adjudged the Player of the Match for his 6th Fifty of the season.
