2024 was a big year for Nitish Kumar Reddy. He made his TATA IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2023 but got an extended run in the subsequent season, playing 13 games. Reddy scored 303 runs at a strike rate of 142.92. The Andhra-born also showed his capability to contribute handy overs with the ball, including a match-winning spell of 2/17 that had key wickets of Tristan Stubbs and Rishabh Pant. With the Indian team looking for more seam-bowling all-round options at that point, Reddy made his debut for India across all formats. His maiden Test ton in December 2024 - 114 against Australia - is the highest score at the iconic MCG by a batter from number eight or below. Thus, it wasn’t a surprise when SRH named him in their five retentions ahead of the 2025 season. Reddy featured in only three games in the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, but scored at a strike rate of 137.25 while picking six wickets with the ball. He finished the season with a player-of-the-match performance - 45 (22) & 2/32 against the eventual winners, Jharkhand. Given his all-round value, Reddy continues to be a first-choice playing XI option for SRH in TATA IPL 2026.
