Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga joined Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 10.75 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. RCB went all guns blazing for the youngster, who took a hattrick in the recently concluded 2021 T20 World Cup. The 24-year-old all-rounder made an impression, especially with the ball, when India toured Sri Lanka in July 2021, for a limited-overs series. At the end of that series, Hasaranga was placed second among T20I bowlers in the ICC rankings. The Sri Lankan all-rounder, Wanindu Hasaranga came in as a replacement for Adam Zampa in IPL 2021. Wanindu was drafted straight into the senior men’s side from Sri Lanka’s U-19 team. An explosive middle-order batsman, Wanindu is also useful with his leggies. He had a dream start to his international career when he claimed a hat-trick in his very first outing in an ODI in June 2017. Wanindu is all set to don the RCB colours again and will add the right balance to the squad.
