It took all but 4 overs for the world to take notice and the IPL to unearth a raw talent called Umran Malik. At 21, he had everything you wanted from a fast bowler. A smooth, clean action, and clocking 150 kmph effortlessly which was enough to grab the right eyeballs. In one IPL season in October, he was bowling to Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers in the IPL, and in November he was making his first-class debut for India A against South Africa A. The Sunrisers Hyderabad identified their need for speed and retained him in their side alongwith Kane Williamson & Abdul Samad. Malik is till young and raw and he will only get better with time. The 2022 IPL season will be a test for Malik and it will be interesting to see if he has upped his game from his last outing.
