Kerala pacer Basil Thampi’s ability to hit the deck hard and extract credible pace was a vital talking point in his inaugural season for Gujarat Lions in 2017. He claimed a decent haul of 11 wickets at a substantial strike rate of 24.36 for them in that season. Thampi was then drafted into the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad in 2018 and since then been a part of the franchise. The fast bowler was picked up by MI for 30 lakhs ahead of the 15th season. He needs one big season to be back in the reckoning and he has an opportunity with MI to make a mark.
