MatchesYuzvendra Chahal enters TATA IPL 2026 as one of the league’s most accomplished bowlers, becoming the first to cross the 200-wicket mark in IPL history. A proven match-winner with his leg spin, Chahal’s journey in the league has been one of steady rise and sustained excellence. He was first signed by Mumbai Indians in 2011 but featured in just one game across three seasons. His move to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2014 transformed his career. Over eight seasons, Chahal became RCB’s premier spin option, picking up 139 wickets. To this date, he is the only bowler to pick more than 100 wickets for RCB. His performances at RCB paved the way for an India call-up in 2016, and he went on to play over 150 white-ball matches, claiming more than 200 wickets. After RCB parted ways with him, Rajasthan Royals secured his services for INR 6.5 Crore in the 2022 mega-auction. He made an immediate impact, winning the Purple Cap with 27 wickets, including a hat-trick and his maiden IPL five-wicket haul (5/40). Punjab Kings acquired him for INR 18 Crore in 2025 after a bidding war, and he delivered key performances, including a match-winning 4 for 28 in a historic low-total defence. While Punjab’s attack leans heavily on pace, Chahal’s experience and wicket-taking ability remain vital to their balance.
