Joe Root is one of England’s most decorated and celebrated cricketers to have ever graced the 22 yards. The 32-year-old, who went unsold in the 2018 auction, will be making his debut in the IPL with Rajasthan Royals after he was bought for Rs. 1 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. He has also been away from the T20 set up with the Three Lions, having played his last T20I for England in May 2019. Root, however, played a key role in England’s runner-up finish in the 2016 T20 World Cup, scoring 249 runs at an average of 49.8 and striking at 146.47. His inclusion in the Royals squad adds depth and balance to their batting line-up, and he could potentially form a strong partnership with the likes of Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler.
