Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first, a decision that paid immediate dividends. Kagiso Rabada delivered a sensational spell with the new ball, causing absolute havoc in the Mumbai top order. The South African speedster clocked an incredible 152.1 kmph to shatter Suryakumar Yadav's stumps (15 off 10), eventually finishing his brilliant four-over spell with figures of 3 for 33.
Reeling after the early loss of three wickets in the Powerplay, Mumbai desperately needed a rescue mission. Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir answered the call, building a pivotal partnership that completely shifted the momentum. Dhir played a highly valuable supporting role, compiling a crucial 45 off 32 deliveries (6 fours, 1 six) before departing.

However, the night entirely belonged to Tilak Varma. The dynamic left-hander showcased brutal ball-striking, accelerating systematically through the middle and death overs. He notably went berserk against Ashok Sharma, looting the pacer for an astonishing sequence of 6, 4, 4, 6, 6. Varma raced to his maiden TATA IPL century, finishing unbeaten on a breathtaking 101 off merely 45 balls. His innings, studded with eight boundaries and seven towering maximums at a strike rate of 224.44, propelled the Mumbai Indians to a commanding 199 for 5.
Faced with a daunting target of 200, the Gujarat Titans’ chase never materialised. Jasprit Bumrah set the tone instantly, claiming a first-ball wicket, his maiden scalp of the 2026 season, to jolt the hosts' top order.

The pressure mounted quickly, and the Titans crumbled under the required run rate. Washington Sundar provided the only notable resistance with a brisk 26 off 17 balls (5 fours), while captain Shubman Gill endured a rare off-day, managing just 14 off 13.
The Mumbai Indians' bowling attack operated flawlessly as a unit. Ashwani Kumar, making a phenomenal comeback, rattled through the middle and lower order to finish with exceptional figures of 4 for 24 in his four overs. Mitchell Santner provided absolute control, taking 2 for 16 in three overs, while Allah Ghazanfar (2 for 17 in 2.5 overs) wiped out the tail. The Titans were ultimately bundled out for exactly 100 in just 15.5 overs, sealing a comprehensive 99-run victory for the visitors.
