TATA IPL 2026, Match 19: LSG vs GT – Match Report
12 Apr, 2026
In a display of calculated batting aggression and bowling discipline, Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 19 of the TATA Indian Premier League 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. While Prasidh Krishna’s clinical four-wicket haul restricted the home side to 164/8, a dominant 84-run partnership between Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler ensured GT chased down the target with 8 balls to spare.
After captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to field, GT’s new-ball attack immediately put the pressure on. Kagiso Rabada, hitting the deck hard, found success early by removing the dangerous Mitchell Marsh (11) on just the ninth delivery of the match. LSG skipper Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram counter-attacked to take LSG to 45/1 after four overs with a string of boundaries; however, Mohd. Siraj was rewarded for his economical spell early on with the wicket of Pant (18 off 11). LSG ended the powerplay at 60/2.
Prasidh Krishna then got two key wickets as Markram’s cameo (30 off 21) ended before Ayush Badoni fell cheaply as well, with the short delivery continuing to do the trick for GT’s pace attack. The visitors continued to put the squeeze on the scoring rate and Prasidh picked up his third wicket in as many overs - with yet another short ball - to send back Nicholas Pooran (19 off 21) and leave LSG reeling at 110/5 with five overs to go.

With wickets falling at regular intervals, LSG found themselves staring at a sub-150 total. However, Mohd. Shami (12* off 5) and George Linde (16 off 10) provided much-needed impetus right at the end. Shami’s late assault, including a four and a six, combined with a boundary from Avesh Khan in the final over, pushed the total to 164/8 as 33 runs came off the last two overs off Rabada and Ashok Sharma.

For GT, Prasidh was the pick of the bowlers with a spell of 4/28 that also took him to the top of the Purple Cap leaderboard. Ashok picked up 2/32 from his four overs, while Rabada and Siraj contributed with a wicket each.
GT’s chase began with high intent. Despite losing Sai Sudharsan (15) to Digvesh Singh Rathi shortly before the end of the powerplay, the visitors remained unfazed. Skipper Shubman Gill and the experienced Jos Buttler combined for an 85-run stand that effectively broke the back of the chase.

Buttler was the chief aggressor, carrying on his good form from the previous game with a blistering 60 off 37 balls, peppered with 11 boundaries, scoring a second consecutive half-century in the process. Gill played the perfect foil, striking a composed 56 off 40 balls. Their partnership ensured that even when both were dismissed in quick succession—Gill to Prince Yadav and Buttler to Shami—they were well in control of proceedings.
With 29 needed off the final few overs, Washington Sundar ensured there would be no late drama. Sundar’s unbeaten 21 off 13 balls, including a crucial six off Prince Yadav, brought the target within reach. Rahul Tewatia (10*) provided the finishing touches as GT crossed the line in the 19th over.
The victory marks a significant move up the table for Gujarat Titans, who are now in the Top 5, while Lucknow Super Giants, just below them on the table, will look to address their middle-order inconsistencies as the tournament progresses.
