TATA IPL 2026, Match 10: SRH vs LSG – Match Report

In another TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) thriller, Lucknow Super Giants secured a crucial victory over hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 10 of TATA IPL 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, to get their first win of the new season.

After LSG won the toss and elected to field, their bowling unit, led by a masterclass from Mohd. Shami dismantled the Sunrisers' top order early. Despite a highly commendable recovery from Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy to help SRH post a competitive total, LSG's disciplined death bowling and crucial batting performances from Captain Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram ensured they crossed the finish line with one delivery to spare.

LSG immediately justified their decision to bowl first. Shami produced an opening spell of the highest quality, removing the dangerous Abhishek Sharma (0 off 2) and Travis Head (7 off 8) in consecutive overs. When Prince Yadav clean-bowled SRH skipper Ishan Kishan (1 off 4), the hosts were reeling at 11/3 within the first four overs.

The slide continued as Liam Livingstone fell for 14, courtesy of a fine catch by LSG captain Rishabh Pant behind the stumps, leaving SRH in a precarious position at 35/4 after 10 overs—the lowest score by any team at the midway mark of an innings, so far this season.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically through a sensational 116-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Klaasen (62 off 41) and Reddy (56 off 33). After finding their feet early, they shifted gears from the 14th over and smashed 61 runs off the next four overs. Their 116-run stand set a new franchise record for the fifth wicket for SRH.

M. Siddharth’s dismissal of Reddy in the 18th over initiated another SRH collapse as they lost five wickets for just 22 runs in the last three overs to finish with 156/9 after 20 overs. Shami (2/9 in 4 overs), Avesh Khan, and Prince Yadav led LSG’s charge with two wickets apiece.

Chasing 157, Lucknow Super Giants got off to a confident start through Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. While Marsh (14) was dismissed early after mistiming a pull off Eshan Malinga, Markram took the aggressor’s role to propel LSG to 53/1 after six overs.

The introduction of Shivang Kumar proved important for SRH as he removed the dangerous Markram for 45(27), caught at the boundary by Liam Livingstone. However, the dismissal only brought Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran together. LSG, while being unable to continue with the momentum provided by Markram, also lost Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran in quick succession and the equation came to 49 needed from 36 deliveries.

But Pant remained the calm center amidst the storm.

Pant and Abdul Samad switched gears with a brisk stand of 34(27) to take LSG to a comfortable position, needing only 19 from 18 deliveries. While Pant got to his fifty off 43 deliveries, there were more twists in store. SRH squeezed the scoring to bring it down to the final over, where LSG needed nine.

However, Pant took matters in his own hands, hitting three boundaries off Jaydev Unadkat’s final over and finishing on 68*(50) to guide LSG home with just one delivery to spare.
