Sunrisers keen to convert top-order batting starts

It has not been the best of starts for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Pepsi IPL 2015. After registering a comprehensive 8-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore, their campaign has only gone downhill with two back to back loses at home in Vizag. On both occasions the top order has managed to get off to starts but failed to convert them into big scores. For Coach Tom Moody, it was one of the areas of concern which needed to be attended soon.
“Any of the top order batsmen, whether it is David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan or KL Rahul, who get an opportunity, need to press on and get a fifty plus score,” Moody said. “In the last game against Delhi Daredevils, that was probably the difference. One of our top four who all got a chance, Ravi Bopara included, got a chance to get a fifty plus score. It is absolutely crucial to convert those starts,” Moody added.
The Sunrisers have had two last over finishes in both their home games and come Wednesday will want to change the fortunes in their favour when they meet the Kolkata Knight Riders. “The last two games, we have been on the wrong side of a last ball result. We are looking forward to being on the right side of it; maybe not on the last ball result but the right side of the result.”
Assessing opponents KKR, Moody added, “KKR are a very good side, there is no question about that. They have got a good all-round side that has had some recent success. It is going to be a tough challenge for us but we are looking forward to it. The mood in the camp is very good.
We have got a good break since the last game which has given us a chance to have a complete day off but also have two good days of training.”
Moody also hinted at some possible changes to the playing eleven. “There could be possible changes, but we haven’t finalized the squad as yet. But we are looking at various combinations that are going to suit the match ups against KKR and also the conditions out there.”
