TATA IPL 2026, Match 29: PBKS vs LSG – Match Report
19 Apr, 2026
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) extended their flawless, unbeaten run in the TATA IPL 2026 with a commanding 54-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in New Chandigarh. In a contest defined by jaw-dropping ball-striking, the hosts posted a mammoth 254 for 7 which is the highest total of the season.
The fixture showcased an extraordinary exhibition of power-hitting from Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly, whose devastating partnership batted LSG entirely out of the contest and solidified Punjab's position at the top of the table.
Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first, hoping to exploit any early assistance. However, the decision quickly backfired. After the early dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly forged an unforgettable 182-run partnership for the second wicket in just 13.2 overs.

Priyansh Arya laid down a marker with a breathtaking 93 from merely 37 deliveries. The southpaw demonstrated supreme intent, peppering the boundary with four fours and a staggering nine sixes. Connolly was given a reprieve as Rishabh Pant and LSG missed a crucial DRS chance which would have seen the end of the stylish left-hander. Connolly made LSG pay as the Australian sensation blasted a brutal 87 off 46 balls, heavily targeting the mid-wicket and long-on boundaries.
The duo dismantled the LSG bowling attack, taking a heavy toll on Mohammed Shami and Avesh Khan. In a particularly brutal passage of play, the 11th and 12th overs yielded 37 runs, followed by a colossal 32-run onslaught against Aiden Markram in the 13th over. While Manimaran Siddharth (2 for 35) and Prince Yadav (2 for 25) managed to pull things back slightly with crucial breakthroughs, late cameos from Marcus Stoinis (29 off 16) and Shashank Singh (17 off 6) ensured PBKS surged past the 250-run mark.

Chasing an intimidating 255, the Lucknow Super Giants required a record-breaking effort. The visitors altered their opening combination, sending Ayush Badoni out alongside Mitchell Marsh. The pair started brightly, but Vijaykumar Vyshak deceived Badoni (35 off 21) with a well-disguised slower delivery on the final ball of the Powerplay, inducing a leading edge to draw first blood.
Mitchell Marsh accumulated a solid 40 off 28 balls, but the mounting required run rate forced continuous risks. PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer rotated his bowlers astutely to maintain a stranglehold on the chase. Yuzvendra Chahal removed the dangerous Marsh, while Arshdeep Singh executed a perfect wide yorker to dismiss LSG captain Rishabh Pant for a brisk 43 off 23 balls just as he began to look threatening.

Marco Jansen then drove the final nail in the coffin by dismissing the out-of-form Nicholas Pooran for 9 in the 15th over. Despite a late, unbeaten 42 from Aiden Markram and 21 from Mukul Choudhary, the target proved entirely insurmountable. The Punjab Kings' disciplined bowling attack, backed by brilliant fielding, restricted LSG to 200 for 5, sealing a comprehensive victory.
