This wicketkeeper-batsman first came into prominence when he made his Test debut against England at the age of 17 back in 2002. Since then, he has regularly been in contention for a spot in the Indian team. The 29-year-old left-hander, who has been impressive with the bat in one-day cricket, was signed by the Chennai Super Kings for the first three seasons of the IPL, moved to Kochi Tuskers Kerala before being bought by the Deccan Chargers at the IPL Player Auction 2012. In the 2014 IPL Player Auction, he was purchased by RCB. The Bangalore-based team traded him to MI ahead of IPL 2015. After his whirlwind journey, Parthiv seems to have settled down with MI. He was part of the winning squad in 2015 and made important contributions at the top order with Lendl Simmons. In the ninth season of the IPL, Parthiv, who had a productive domestic season, would look to get big scores and help MI defend their title.
