Australia’s Andrew McDonald came into prominence when Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson were sidelined due to injuries. This gritty all-rounder is capable of piling on the big runs and turning on the heat in Twenty20 cricket. McDonald bowls military medium and more often than not sticks to a wicket-to-wicket line making run-scoring difficult. He turned out for the Delhi Daredevils in the first three seasons of the IPL and was retained by the franchise after they outbid the others at the IPL Player Auction 2011. However, the Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him during the transfer window ahead of IPL 2012, in which he contributed with 47 runs and five wickets in four matches.
