A gritty stroke-maker, more than decent leg-spinner and an acrobatic fielder, Steven Smith is no stranger to the Indian Premier League. After representing the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2010, he was taken by the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011, but had to give the tournament a miss due to an ankle injury. He then moved to Pune Warriors India in 2012 and will be seen in RR’s blues in the 2014 season. From being touted as the next Shane Warne to emerging as the most promising genuine spin-bowling all-rounder of his country, Steven Smith has captured the imagination of cricket-lovers everywhere. A stocky blonde leg-spinner who deceives the batsman with flight and loop, he is also a hard-hitting batsman who can keep his place in a limited-overs team on batting merit alone. In 2010, Smith made his international debut in all three formats and has evolved since. Smith, who represents the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, is a valuable all-rounder for all the teams he plays for.
