Profile

Birth Date 30 July 1989
IPL debut 2011

The left-arm fast bowler from South Africa was bought back into the DD fold in the IPL 2014 Auction. He was part of DD before being signed by the Pune Warriors India ahead of IPL 2011. Parnell is a product of the South African cricket system, and captained the U-13 Eastern Province side before he went on to lead the South Africa U-19 team in the 2008 ICC U-19 World Cup in Malaysia. He captured 18 wickets – the highest in the tournament – and also scored useful runs in the middle order to take South Africa to the final. The youngest South African to receive a Cricket South Africa central contract, Parnell is a regular in his country’s limited-overs team and will be eager to make an impact in the Indian Premier League.
