Wayne Parnell is a 23-year-old left-arm fast bowler from Port Elizabeth. A product of the South African cricket system, Parnell captained the U-13 Eastern Province side before he went on to lead the South Africa U-19 team in the 2008 ICC U-19 World Cup in Malaysia. He captured 18 wickets – the highest in the tournament – and also scored useful runs in the middle order to take South Africa to the final. The youngest South African to receive a Cricket South Africa central contract, Parnell is a regular in his country’s limited-overs team. He was part of the Delhi Daredevils squad earlier, but was signed by the Pune Warriors ahead of IPL 2011 for USD 160,000.
