A hard-hitting opening batsman from South Africa, Davy Jacobs is likely to be Mumbai Indians’ first-choice wicketkeeper in IPL 2012. The 29-year-old right-hander has been on South African domestic circuit for over a decade now, but only shot to prominence when he scored to 286 runs in the 2010 CLT20 and finished as the second-highest run-getter in the competition. Jacobs has been a consistent performer for every team for which he has played. In his first stint with the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2011, Jacobs opened the batting alongside Sachin Tendulkar and often got his team off to a good start. He has been retained by the Mumbai franchise for IPL 2012.
