Marchant de Lange was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL Player Auction back in 2012 and was picked up by the Mumbai Indians in 2015. de Lange is a genuine pace bowler whose build and bowling style are very similar to fellow South African pacer Morne Morkel. He made his first-class debut in September 2010 and has impressive numbers to show for his toils. The 25-year-old went on to take seven wickets for 81 runs in an innings against Sri Lanka in his debut Test in December 2011. He can consistently clock speeds in excess of 140 kph from a short run-up and experts believe that he is able to do so as he started off as a javelin thrower before becoming a professional cricketer.
