| IPL debut | 2012 |
James Pattinson captained Victoria in the national U-18 competition and also represented Australia in the 2008 U-19 World Cup. He made his first-class debut in 2008 when he was just 18. Despite taking quite a few wickets, stress fractures in his back marred Pattinson’s debut season. However, he made a stunning comeback by picking wickets in all forms of the game. Unfortunately, he got injured again towards the end of last season. He used his time off to build a stronger torso, which is more suited to handle the rigours of pace bowling. Soon, Pattinson got noticed by the Australian selectors, who handed him his Test, ODI and Twenty20 caps in 2011. Pattinson was picked by the Kolkata Knight Riders at the IPL Player Auction 2011 for USD 100,000, but are yet to blood him.
