RCB batsman posts highest ever Asia Cup score as India win
Hosts level five-match series against Aus 1-1
Narine, who was picked up KKR only recently at the IPL Player Auction 2012 for USD 700,000, played a big hand in restricting the visitors to 154 with ODI best figures of four for 27 from eight overs. Narine accounted for Mike Hussey (24), David Hussey (37), Matthew Wade (3) and Clint McKay (6) as Australia were restricted to 154 for nine in 40 overs.
With the target then revised to 158 under the D/L method, West Indies stumbled their way to 74 for four in 18.4 overs and were threatening to fall short of the target. However, an assured 64-run stand between Chennai Super Kings Dwayne Bravo and MI’s Pollard off 14.4 overs brought West Indies to the brink of victory. Bravo (30 off 49) was run out in the 34th over, with the hosts still requiring 20 to win, but with Pollard remaining unbeaten on 47 with four sixes, WI stormed home with 10 deliveries left to be bowled in the contest.
The third ODI between the two teams will be played at the same venue on March 20.
Brief scores: West Indies 163/5 in 38.2 overs (Dwayne Bravo 30, Kieron Pollard 47*, Shane Watson 1/28) beat Australia 154/9 in 40.0 overs (David Hussey 37, Sunil Narine 4/47) by five wickets
