Chennai Super Kings’ seven-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals did more than just adding two points to the team’s kitty. It acted as a source of inspiration for the franchise owners to defeat their RR counterparts by a handsome margin of 24 runs.
The CSK owners’ XI scored 86 for five in their stipulated 10 overs with RI Palani (22) and S Balaji (24) making the highest contributions. The two revived the team from an abysmal 32 for three in 3.5 overs. Aryaman Birla rocked their boat with bowling figures of three for 10 in two overs.
Romi Bhinder began RR owners’ innings solidly, but as per the rules, he had to retire after reaching the score of 25. Raghu Iyer was the second-highest scorer for the RR team with 16 runs. PR Venkatasubramaniam picked up three wickets in two overs giving away a miserly six runs.
This was the second match of the owners’ tournament, which will be played throughout IPL 2012 across different venues. Deccan Chargers beat Delhi Daredevils in the first game played in Delhi. The next match will be held in Mohali on April 25 when Kings XI Punjab’s owners will take on Mumbai Indians’ owners.
