    Early wickets hurt us: Randiv

CSK spinner reflects on his team’s eight-wicket loss against DD

    New Delhi 11 April 2012
Chennai Super Kings off-spinner Suraj Randiv has been watching his team’s campaign to retain the IPL title from the dugout so far. He believes that it is only a matter of time before CSK get back to their winning ways. The Sri Lankan bowler, who watched his team lose to the Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here, shared his observations with iplt20.com after the match.

Excerpts from his brief chat with iplt20.com:

On whether rain and losing the toss made any difference to the outcome of the match

Not actually, because we lost four quick wickets that’s the reason I think we lost the game. I don’t think it was about the rain or the toss.

    On the top order failure

It was the run outs. [...] If you lose wickets like that, you can’t get on with it. I think that is the main reason we have lost.

On whether the opening pair is not clicking

Not really because [Murali] Vijay and Faf [du Plessis] have played together for a while. [Michael] Hussey will join the team very soon. I don’t see that much difference in Faf and Vijay. It’s not a big issue.

    On Morne Morkel’s spell

He is a good bowler; no doubt about that. He always gives 100 percent for the team whether it is his national side or Delhi Daredevils.

    On regrouping after the loss

We have to analayse what we did wrong. We have to get it [the winning ways] back very soon, and if we do our basics right, then we can win the next game against Pune [Warriors India].
