Quick Stats: Match 57 – PWI v RCB
PWI, Gayle and Pandey get their seventh; Dada joins Sanga and Vettori
11 Number of Man-of-the-Match awards won by Chris Gayle in the IPL – the most by any player along with Yusuf Pathan. Interestingly, it took Gayle 29 matches less than Pathan to equal his record.
7 Number of fifties scored by Chris Gayle in IPL 2012 – the most by any batsman in a single edition of the IPL.
7 Number of ducks recorded by Manish Pandey in the IPL. He now shares the dubious distinction of aggregating most ducks in the IPL with Amit Mishra, Shane Warne and Parthiv Patel. The duck was Pandey’s fourth in IPL 2012 – also the most by any player in IPL 2012. Harbhajan Singh of the Mumbai Indians with three ducks is next in this list.
7 Number of consecutive matches lost by the Pune Warriors India. They had also lost seven consecutive games in IPL 2011. Only one side had a worse losing streak in the IPL. The Kolkata Knight Riders lost eight matches in a row in IPL 2009.
3 Number of captains to voluntarily sit out during IPL 2012. Sourav Ganguly joined Kumar Sangakkara (Deccan Chargers) and Daniel Vettori (Royal Challengers Bangalore). In addition Adam Gilchrist (Kings XI Punjab) had to sit out because of injury.
3 Number of times both openers scored fifties in IPL 2012. The previous instances were of Faf du Plessis (58) and S Badrinath (57) of the Chennai Super Kings also against PWI on April 19; and Mahela Jayawardene (55) and Virender Sehwag (73) of the Delhi Daredevils against MI on April 27.
2 Number of stumpings by AB de Villiers in the match. He became the second wicketkeeper to stump two batsmen in a match in IPL 2012, after Robin Uthappa of PWI who had achieved this feat against MI on April 6. Interestingly, de Villiers has just one caught dismissal against five stumpings as a wicketkeeper in IPL 2012!
