Quick Stats: Match 56 – CSK v RR

Badrinath misses his first; Hilfenhaus bowls his second

    Mumbai 11 May 2012
1 S Badrinath missed a match for the first time in his IPL career. This leaves Suresh Raina as the only player not to miss a single match for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

2 Number of maidens bowled by Ben Hilfenhaus in IPL 2012. He had also bowled a maiden against the Mumbai Indians on May 6. Hilfenhaus thus became the fifth bowler after Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Munaf Patel and Dale Steyn to bowl two maiden overs in the IPL 2012.

2.00 Ben Hilfenhaus’ economy (4-1-8-2) – the best for any bowler in IPL2012 in four-over spell. Kings XI Punjab’s Praveen Kumar had also conceded only eight runs against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 2.

8 Runs conceded by Shaun Tait in his first three overs. He conceded 12 runs off his next legitimate delivery!

18 Runs scored by both Albie Morkel and Srikkanth Anirudha. Interestingly, both faced the same number of balls (6) and hit same number of boundaries (two sixes and one four).

    21.50 Run-rate during the Morkel-Anirudha partnership – 43* off 12 balls!

38 Catches taken by Suresh Raina in the IPL – the most by any fielder. He goes ahead of Rohit Sharma’s tally of 37 catches.

200 The Rajasthan Royals became the first team to hit 200 boundary fours in IPL 2012. At the end of the match, their tally of fours stands at 205.

8000 The match saw the 8000th boundary four being hit in IPL history. The exact tally now stands at 8002. Incidentally, the Chennai Super Kings have hit the most number of boundary fours across the five editions of the IPL – 982. They have also hit most sixes – 409.
