Rajasthan Royals today announced the signing of Essel Marketing & Promotions as the team’s official merchandise partner for the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Mumbai based strategic marketing company will be responsible for producing a range of high quality fan cheering equipment / licensed products that will be sold at cricket stadia and through retail channels across Rajasthan.
The company will have the exclusive rights to source innovative promotional products from around the globe for the team.
Commenting on the association with Essel Marketing and Promotions, Mr. Raghu Iyer, CEO, Rajasthan Royals said, “The merchandising business plays a big role from a business point of view and also because it helps us connect with our fans. The business has been doing well all over India and especially in our home state of Rajasthan. We are glad to be associated with Essel and are trust this partnership will be a mutually beneficial one.”

Rajasthan Royals co-owner Shilpa Shetty Kundra recently unveiled the team’s new jersey. The team also bolstered its line-up by acquiring five new players including England all-rounder Owais Shah.

Pune Warriors India bowler Marlon Samuels has been reported for bowling certain deliveries with a suspected illegal action during the DLF IPL match against Chennai Super Kings, played in Pune on 14 April 2012.
The bowler was reported by on-field umpires Aleem Dar and Bruce Oxenford, along with third umpire Vineet Kulkarni, at the conclusion of the match.
Under the IPL Suspected Illegal Bowling Action policy, Mr Samuels may continue to be selected to play and bowl for Pune Warriors India in the DLF IPL 2012 season but should he be reported a second time, he will be suspended from bowling for the remainder of the season.
